Dehydration and Depression

I battle the "depression demons" and one thing I've learned working with Dr. Bob, (he is a chiropractic sports physican and a nutritionist and an athletic trainer).
When you get dehydrated it throws your electrolytes out of balance and that causes depression. The more depressed I get, the less I drink so it can sometimes get out of control.
The problem is I just don't get thirsty anymore. So he takes my blood pressure several times a week (and I have a machine at home) and if my blood pressure is low and I have a rapid pulse it means I'm dehydrated and really need to push in some fluids. Keeping myself super hydrated keeps the dark clouds away.
I just thought I'd pass this along.

Hey there,

I can't keep plain water down...my pouch just doesn't like it but I use the non-carbonated fruit flavored waters and have no problems. Give it a try it may work for you too. I am able to get in 5.5   16.9 oz bottles daily using these...Laurie

You may choose to add some more salt to your food. Even shakes.
Salt allows our bodies to retain water. Good sea salts - I use Himalayan salts.

My psych told me with the meds, Im on WATER IS ESSENTIAL. For the same reasons...

Since then, and be here in this room... my new regimen is working miracles. I use alot of water-based protein shakes, or drink that RTD Isopure. Its protein, and good amount of water.

For the exception of yesterday, Im as calm as a lamb.
